Tempera – is very old technique. Aartists painted icons and walls in churches to illustrate  all episodes from the Bible for the poor parishioners who could not read in the 15th century. The basis of this technique is the same idea but the binder is different – an emulsion. Painters mixed dried pigment together with emulsion and as a result we get tempera paint. Emulsion – is the original yolk diluted in right proportions with water, it provides for paint durability and resistance to the influence of time and environment.

Icon – a technique of stylized image for example a face of the saint that is why the face of the holy icon has a specific shine, which helps to focus on prayer.

I use this technique when I paint portrait, landscape, still-life paintings, urban landscape and icon.
